While our photographer James Bennett (www.jbphotos.ca) was out shooting a portrait session for Nova Scotia's own rising Country Musician, Makayla Lynn, they bumped into some of the biggest names in the industry today. As they were setting up for a photo a voice could be heard from behind saying play us a song. As they turned their heads they were pleased to see Chad Brownlee and all the 6 finalists of the CCMA Discovery program standing there taking in the photoshoot. James Bennett suggested that they come over for a group photo for Makayala Lynn.
Although we cover most of the artists that perform at the Schooner Room, Casino NS, our photographer James Bennett decided to leave his camera home on the night Chad Brownlee and Jess Moskaluke were in town for a date with his wife as both are fans of the performers. A night that he spent loving the show and the time with his wife but wishing he had taken his camera. He recalls so many great photo opportunities. Including Brownlee singing Thinking out Loud alone on stage and saying to himself "wow, stunning, if I only had my camera now". So when James saw Chad Brownlee this time he wasn't going to let Brownlee leave without taking a photo.
It is funny how things seem to work out at times. Initially the photo shoot with Makayla Lynn was to take place on Citadel Hill but when they arrived the doors were closed so they decided to take the shoot to Parade Square. Once there and having shot some portraits the plan was to move to Historic Properties for some more photos. However, Makayla's mother Jennifer stated let's go do a clothing change and get that one shot you wanted in front of the Five Fishermen Restaurant. They had left to find somewhere to change her outfit returning some time later. It was at this time they ran into Brownlee, the finalists, and president of the CCMA. The finalists are in Halifax for a bootcamp and will be performing at Cavendish Beach Music Festival. Luckily our photographer will also be at Cavendish Beach Music Festival photographing the events for the the Festival. It looks to be a stellar year for Country Music Fans in the Maritimes.
